Woodpecker in Cabo Blanco

bird-IMG_0305.JPG
I took this in Cabo Blanco Nature Reserve which is about 10(?) miles south of Montezuma. I really like this photo but haven’t posted it because it’s a little lower quality since I took this still with my video camera, but I keep seeing it and decided to finally post it.

Cabo Blanco is a national park south of Cabuya at the very bottom of the Nicoya peninsula. It’s got two trails (and that’s all your allowed on) one that is a 80 minute loop and the other takes you two hours to the beach. With stopping to look at animals this could take you MUCH longer. It’s a hike, not just a trail, lots of up and down (with goofy steps in the steep parts). It’s way way harder than climbing to the upper falls in Montezuma.

Anyone know what kind of bird this is?
